BECOME A LEADER WHO RESONATES WITH MILLENNIALS

DISCOVER NEW AND CREATIVE WAYS TO REACH YOUR GOALS, ENGAGE ALL AGES, AND BRIDGE THE GAP BETWEEN GENERATIONS.

By 2020, Millennials (those born between about 1980 and 2000) are forecast to comprise half of the American workforce, and by 2025, 75 percent of the global workforce.

In less than 5 years, Millennials will be the majority of the workforce. This is not simply a change of guard. It’s not even a succession of leadership. It is a new generational perspective that expects a tolerant and open-minded organizational community. This shift requires a different mindset and a different workplace.

Millennials think differently than any other generation.

However, instead of executives learning about these differences and implementing new practices, many have ignored this shift of generational expectation and dismissed Millennial vocational and social values. This choice has cost countless companies to suffer financially. It has also cost them the loyalty of their  workforce.

Millennials’ tolerance for large corporations waned in 2019. Many disrupted the world of work by protesting corporate actions or lack of action, quitting their jobs, and looking elsewhere for ways to make a living.

Millennials value inclusiondiversity, and equality, and they expect companies to exemplify these characteristics. So there’s only one choice. Business leaders must create an company where Millennials want to work–an environment of diversity, inclusion, and equality presented in the company’s mission statement, leadership structure, and HR policies and practices.

Companies can’t afford to stay the same. Something needs to change. That’s where I come in.

As a Diversity and Inclusion Strategist and Consultant, and CEO of INDIVITI, LLC, I help organizations understand how to bridge the generational gap, create a higher performing team, and develop a greater reputation amongst Millennials customers. The countless articles that categorize, stereotype, and generalize individuals based on age or generation have turned what was once a generational rift into a cavernous gap. Generational tensions in the workplace can cost businesses a healthy work environment and in turn, lower productivity.

About Dr. Colleen

Dr. Colleen Batchelder, Diversity and Inclusion Strategist and Consultant, understands generational differences from an educational background and an experiential framework. As a Millennial herself, she has experienced what it is like to struggle with respect and fight against generational assumptions, gender expectations, and out-of-date leadership ideologies.

In many ways, her own experience of marginalization compelled her to formulate solutions and practical tools that executives could use to create companies where Millennials want to work. Her experience is also backed up by extensive educational background. Her doctorate specialized in area of leadership and global perspectives. This provided her with a globalized lens to approach the generational dissonance occuring within the United States and throughout the world.

Dr. Batchelder’s educational experience in London, Yorkshire, Hong Kong, Tuscany, Rome, and Oxford not only confirmed her theories of generational differences. It also furthered her passion to develop a platform for leaders from all sectors so that they could bridge the gap and create successful organizations of diversity, inclusion, and equality. She understands how to address the growing trends of generational dissonance because she approaches generational differences from a sociological, theological, anthropological, and ethnographical lens.

Dr. Colleen was named an emerging leader under 40 by the NYC Mayor’s Center for Faith and Community Partnership, presented with the Champion Award from George Fox University, and nominated for her work with LOUD Summit as a leading voice for mental health and suicide prevention in NYC. She understands what it takes to help leaders bridge the generational gap and she is determined to help them succeed.

Younger generations are not “entitled, avocado-toast-eating, Ping-Pong playing, craft-beer, Game-of-Thrones-watching, unprepared, pessimistic slackers.
